Wireless Office Network Solution
Wireless Office Network Solution
2023-03-16

The construction of enterprise office networks requires consideration of economy, efficiency, and the need for employees to work freely. Wireless office network is a highly efficient and cost-effective enterprise network solution that meets the free needs of employees.

1. There are multiple reasons for choosing wireless office

² In Q3 2008, the global shipment of laptops surpassed that of desktop computers for the first time, and WIFI entered the homes of ordinary people. WIFI mobile terminals were getting closer to the public, and WIFI would approach ordinary individuals

² WIFI terminals are constantly emerging, and the popularization of WIFI phones and other fixed and mobile WIFI consumer electronics will greatly promote the construction and utilization of WLAN networks. Taking history as a mirror, we can know the rise and fall, and history also tells us that personal terminals are the driving force behind the development of the internet.

² Convenience is productivity, and the value of the convenience brought by WLAN internet access. With the 100Mbps bandwidth brought by 11N technology, this convenience, like DSL, will completely overturn people's usage habits. This network usage habit will further promote changes in content and bring about the great development of WLAN applications.

² The environment for WIFI applications is gradually maturing. In 2008, the construction of WIFI networks on a large scale by operators greatly promoted the popularization of WIFI usage groups, cultivated user habits, and created an environment for the enrichment of WIFI applications.

2. Multiple reasons for choosing FIT AP

² Simple configuration: AP zero configuration, all configurations are centralized on the wireless switch, simple and convenient;

² Convenient maintenance: Management and maintenance are implemented for wireless switches, without the need to operate each AP;

² Easy to upgrade: In response to the software version upgrade requirements brought about by the increase in features, only the wireless switch needs to be operated, and there is no need to upgrade each wireless AP separately;

² Safe and controllable: It can centrally adjust RF and power, channel, black and white list, wireless intrusion detection, security access control, and other functions;

² Easier to expand: As needed, it is possible to flexibly add patch APs, support three-layer roaming, and facilitate the expansion of support for wireless monitoring, voice applications, and other services.

3. Multiple reasons for choosing an enterprise level AP

To build an enterprise wireless office network, it is necessary to choose an enterprise level AP instead of an SOHO level AP.

² More stable: Enterprise level APs are designed for concurrent applications with multiple customers, and both hardware selection and software design fully consider the characteristics of concurrent applications with multiple users, such as high throughput design, QOS design, and hardware encryption design. Due to the complex application environment, enterprise level wireless devices can support external antennas and optimize coverage by replacing different types of antennas. At the same time, The RF part of the enterprise level AP has better reception sensitivity and coverage, fully ensuring the stable operation of multi user and big data traffic.

² More secure: The enterprise level AP adopts a professional Ethernet port lightning protection design for discharging static electricity and lightning surge. In addition, the enterprise level AP adopts high-performance hardware encryption technology, which ensures performance while not reducing the security guarantee of wireless applications.

² Healthier: The enterprise level AP adopts high-performance RF circuits, low radiation, and complies with RoHS standards.

² Low cost: Enterprise level APs provide rich and manageable features, which can reduce customer network maintenance and operation costs while ensuring performance and security, and provide true high-performance price ratio solutions.

4. What kind of wireless switch to choose

In that case, facing different manufacturers and models of wireless switch products, how to choose devices that are suitable for network needs is a top priority issue. It is recommended to analyze what type of wireless switch to choose from the following aspects.

4.1. Moderate AP management ability

Generally speaking, one AP can meet the traffic requirements of 20 users, each with a traffic rate of 1Mbps. From this perspective, 20-30 APs can meet the enterprise application needs of 400-600 people. Therefore, the wireless controller that manages 48 APs in the industry can meet the needs of most small and medium-sized networks.

Considering the lifecycle of enterprise networks, the performance of wireless controllers needs to be able to meet several years of application. Nowadays, IEEE802.11a/b/g is the mainstream of wireless access. With the maturity of IEEE802.11n, existing networks need to seamlessly integrate IEEE802.11n APs. Therefore, wireless controllers must be able to meet the data processing requirements of both IEEE802.11a/b/g and IEEE802.11n.

4.2. Necessary performance guarantees

At present, gigabit cores have been widely used in enterprise networks, and the uplink ports of IEEE802.11n APs mostly use gigabit. Therefore, wireless controllers need to provide gigabit processing performance, not only providing gigabit ports, but also preferably providing 10GB scalability to provide higher network link applicability.

Secondly, with the promotion of delay sensitive services such as voice and the high traffic requirements of IEEE802.11n AP processing, wireless controllers with centralized forwarding can easily become performance bottlenecks. Therefore, it is necessary for the wireless controller to support the use of distributed forwarding mode. The control and management messages are processed uniformly through the wireless controller, and the data messages are directly converted into Ethernet format messages on the wireless AP without the need for tunnel encapsulation to be processed by the wireless switch, thus solving the bottleneck problem of data forwarding performance of the wireless controller.

4.3. Support wireless AP power supply

The flexibility of wireless AP deployment location requires it to be able to achieve remote power supply through POE. Currently, POE switches follow the IEEE802.3af standard, with a maximum output power of around 15W. However, the mainstream IEEE802.11n AP in the industry requires a working power of more than 15W. To address this power supply requirement, it is necessary to follow the IEEE802.3at draft of POE+power supply switches in order to truly leverage the performance advantages of IEEE802.11n.

Wireless switches provide POE power supply capabilities and can invest in wireless office networks.

4.4. Reduce management costs

In order to reduce management costs, it is best for wireless switches to integrate necessary integrated applications, including DHCP server applications to achieve IP address allocation for wireless users, and integrate MAC address authentication, IEEE802.1x authentication, PORTAL authentication, and RADIUS servers to ensure user security.

5. Office wireless deployment method

Office wireless AP deployment can be done through wall mounted or ceiling mounted methods. For AP ceiling mounted installation and deployment, the following suggestions are made. To ensure better coverage, it is generally recommended to install ceiling mounted antennas on the ceiling, especially when the ceiling is made of aluminum alloy gussets, which will result in poor coverage.

If using a ceiling, when installing the AP, it can be placed in a corner of the room for easy installation, maintenance, and power supply. Then, the ceiling antenna can be guided to the central area of the room through RF cables.

For the reinforced concrete leadership office area, if the partition wall is made of thick reinforced concrete material, an AP can be deployed in each room. If the partition wall is made of light steel keel and gypsum board, it is recommended to deploy an AP in the corridor to cover 2-3 leadership offices.

5.1. Ensuring Wireless Security

WLAN utilizes invisible public media for airborne signal propagation, and security is a huge challenge in deploying wireless. Wireless switches need to provide the following security assurance technologies.

² Preventing unauthorized APs

² Preventing illegal users

² Preventing ARP attacks

² Preventing Network Bandwidth Abuse

² Black and white list settings
